Visitors are invited to contribute accounts of EXPERIENCES they had that involved Carlos Kleiber in some way, or TRIBUTES to him as artist and human being. Some contributions will likely contain both elements. Recollections of having known or met Carlos, of having attended in person a concert or an opera that he conducted, or of having played or sung professionally under him in a performance would be most welcome. But posts by those who simply wish to express their admiration for Carlos’ artistry and humanity will be equally welcome.

I have been reading several bigraphical notes about Maestro Kleiber and would like to point out something small but interesting that has not been mentioned: the fact that he was a boarder at the Grange School in Santiago de Chile. This is a British school run on the principles of the great English public school tradition and of which I and my three brothers are old boys. In fact, my eldest brother Charles, was a contemporary of Carlos Kleiber. Needless to say, this enhances even more the enormous admiration I hold for him.

In last Sunday´s (31 July,2011) Chilean national newspaper, “El Mercurio” Arts and Culture section, they published a fascinating story (with photos) about Maestro Kleiber´s link with The Grange School in Santiago, which he went to as a boarder in the late 40´s.
Your devoted readers who read Spanish will be delighted, I´m sure.
