About the Site

SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT

Today this site reached a milestone: the number of distinct individuals (from 98 countries) who have visited since its launch on 7 February 2010 has just passed 10,000. I hope that their almost 20,000 visits have enhanced their enjoyment of Carlos’ unique artistry and shed light on his remarkable life. The fact that thousands of people around the world still feel strongly about Carlos Kleiber and his musical patrimony is a marvelous and encouraging development that lifts the spirit.

The purpose of this site is to celebrate the work and honor the memory of the great conductor Carlos Kleiber (*3 July 1930 – †13 July 2004).

Admirers of the legendary maestro are invited to share their thoughts about him. Especially welcome would be posts from individuals who…

  • met, knew, or worked with Carlos personally;

  • attended any concerts or opera performances he directed;

  • played or sang under him in any concerts or operas; or

  • simply wish to share their personal thoughts about Carlos as conductor or human being.

Accounts of Kleiber-related experiences and appreciations of Carlos will be published on the TRIBUTES/EXPERIENCES page.

Visitors can watch and comment on video clips of Kleiber performances, read illuminating articles about Carlos, discuss Kleiber-related topics and questions, and post or read information of interest to CK devotees, e.g., about relevant concerts, exhibits, recordings, and books.

By providing a centralized source of such materials, hopefully this site will help expand knowledge, deepen understanding, and enrich appreciation of Carlos Kleiber, one of the supreme conductors in the history of Western classical music.
